Oare Marshes, 06:00 to 12:00, Warm, mostly overcast with a light SW breeze. Some light rain later. Fallling tide - HT circa 05:00. With Richard Roberts.
1 Garganey (c/o the Stour Valley team), 1 Sparrowhawk (carrying prey), 1 Buzzard (+ including one on nest), 1 White-rumped Sandpiper (worn adult on East Flood briefly 10:55-11:00 before flying N with two other small waders (Dunlin?) - small wader picked up flying onto East Flood by Richard and landed on small island circa 30 metres from where we were sitting by pull-in along road where all salient features noted. Fourth record for the reserve), 10 Dunlin (+), 4 Ruff (3 ruff and a reeve), 5 Whimbrel (+), 2 Spotted Redshank (moulting adults), 1 Greenshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, 4 Mediterranean Gull (adults on East Flood), 1 Bonaparte's Gull (moulting adult still dividing its time between East Flood and mud east of slipway), 2 Common Tern, 3 Turtle Dove (adults), 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker (juv), 10 Yellow Wagtail (+ mostly juvs along seawall) [Murray Wright]
